Özet

Malezya’nın hızla yaşlanan çok etnikli nüfusu, kültürel olarak uyarlanmış demans bakımına artan bir ihtiyaç duymaktadır. Bu çalışma, hafif bilişsel gerileme (hafif bilişsel bozukluk ve hafif demans) yaşayan üç Çin kökenli Malezyalı birey ve onların bakım verenlerinden oluşan ikili grupları desteklemek amacıyla, 1940–1980 yıllarına ait kültürel açıdan anlamlı Çin müzikleriyle yürütülen canlı müzik destekli anımsama terapisi grubunun uygulanabilirliğini incelemiştir. Müdahale, profesyonel bir klarnet dörtlüsü tarafından sunulan tek seanslık 60 dakikalık bir oturumdan oluşmuştur. Veriler başlangıçta, programdan bir hafta ve dört hafta sonra toplanmıştır. Sonuç ölçütleri arasında Nöropsikiyatrik Envanter Anketi, Zarit Bakım Yükü Kısa Formu ve Alzheimer Bakımında Kazanım Ölçeği yer almış; sırasıyla nöropsikiyatrik semptomlar, bakım veren yükü ve bakım verme kazanımları değerlendirilmiştir. Nicel veriler güvenilir değişim indeksleriyle, nitel veriler ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmelerden elde edilerek tümevarımsal tematik analizle incelenmiştir. İki ikili, nöropsikiyatrik semptomlarda iyileşme, bir ikili bakım veren yükünde azalma, bir diğer ikili ise bakım verme kazanımlarında artış bildirmiştir. Programın etkisine dair dört tema ortaya çıkmıştır: (1) ruh halinin iyileşmesi ve mutlu anıların hatırlanması, (2) yaşam kalitesinin artması, (3) kültürel hususlar, (4) program yapısında değişiklikler. Bu çalışma, Malezya’da canlı müzik destekli anımsama terapisi gruplarına zemin hazırlamakta ve gelecekteki araştırmalar için yön göstermektedir.
